he Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) has announced the recipients of the National Sports and Adventure Awards for 2024 on January 2, 2025. These prestigious awards will be presented at a ceremony on January 17, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will confer the honors.
These awards, celebrating outstanding achievements in sports, include:
- Arjuna Award
- Dronacharya Award
- Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award &
- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy.
- Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar
Applications were accepted exclusively online via a dedicated portal, allowing athletes, coaches, and entities to self-nominate.
The winners were chosen from a vast pool of nominations by a Selection Committee chaired by Justice (Retd.) V. Ramasubramanian of the Supreme Court of India, along with distinguished athletes, sports journalists, and sports administrators as committee members.
In November 2024, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) has announced the discontinuation of Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award and introduced Arjuna Award (Lifetime).

In 2024, two athletes earned the Dronacharya Award in the Lifetime Achievement category, while three athletes received the Dronacharya Award in the Regular category.

2. Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2024
The 'Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award' is awarded to a sportsperson for their remarkable and excellent accomplishment in sports during the past four years.
