1.  പൈതഗോറസ് ത്രികകങ്ങൾ അല്ലാത്തത് ഏത് ?

  •     A) 8, 7, 3          B) 3, 4, 5           C) 5, 12, 13            D) 7, 24, 25


Explanation:

                   A Pythagorean triangle is a triangle that satisfies the Pythagorean theorem (the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides).

Option A) 8, 7, 3

                             Hypotenuse = 8

                           ie, 8² = 7² + 3²
                               64 = 49 + 9
                               64 ≠ 58
                ∴  (8, 7, 3) is not a Pythagorean triangle.


Option B) 3, 4, 5 

                           ie, 5² = 3² + 4²
                               25 = 9 + 16
                               25 = 25 (True)
                ∴  (3, 4, 5)  is a Pythagorean triangle.
                      

Option C) 5, 12, 13 

                           ie, 13² = 5² + 12²
                               169 = 25 + 144
                               169 = 169 (True)
                ∴  (5, 12, 13)  is a Pythagorean triangle.

                      

Option D) 7, 24, 25

                           ie, 25² = 7² + 24²
                               625 = 49 + 576
                               625 = 625 (True)
                ∴  (7, 24, 25)  is a Pythagorean triangle.

                      

Solution

                ∴  The only option that does not form a Pythagorean triangle is A) 8, 7, 3.



2.  5 + 2 × 3 − 1/2 × 6 = ?

  •     A) 18         B) 8         C) 81          D) 9


Explanation: 



         By BODMAS rule,

                          5 + 2 × 3 − 1/2 × 6
                                =  5 + 6 − 3
                                = 8

Solution

                ∴ The answer is 8.





3.  0.5, 0.25, 0.35 എന്നീ സംഖ്യകളുടെ ല.സാ.ഗു. എത്ര?   

  •     A) 1.75          B) 1.57          C) 1.35           D) 1.55


Explanation:

                                   0.5 = 5/10
                                 0.25 = 25/100
                                 0.35 = 35/100

                The LCM of the numerators 5, 25, and 35 is 175.
         Now, divide the LCM by the common denominator, 175/100 = 1.75

                       

Solution

                ∴  The least common multiple (L.C.M) of 0.5, 0.25, and 0.35 is 1.75..




4.  താഴെ തന്നിരിക്കുന്നവയിൽ വലിയ സംഖ്യാ ഏത്?

  •     A) 5/3          B) 13/11          C) 113/111            D) 17/5 


Explanation:

                                       5/3 = 1.666.....
                                   13/11 = 1.181.....
                               113/111 = 1.018......
                                    17/5 = 3.4

Solution

                ∴  From the above decimal we can see that D) 17/5 is the largest number.





5.  1.1 × 1.11ന്റെ വില കാണുക?

  •     A) 12.21         B) 1.221           C) 122.1            D) 11.22




6.  √(x/221) = 2, ആയാൽ x ന്റെ വില എന്ത് ?

  •      A) 844          B) 484          C) 448           D) 884 


Explanation:

                            Given, √(x/221) = 2
Squaring both sides,   (√(x/221))² = 2²
                                            x/221 = 2²
                                            x/221 = 4
                                                   x = 221 × 4
                                                   x = 884.


Solution

                ∴  The value of x is D) 884.





7.  10 സംഖ്യകളുടെ ശരാശരി 23 ആണ്. ഇതിലെ ഓരോ സംഖ്യയോടും 4 കൂട്ടിയാൽ കിട്ടുന്ന സംഖ്യകളുടെ ശരാശരി എത്ര?

Explanation:

                        If each number is increased by 4, the total sum of the numbers will increase by 4 × 10 = 40.
                                     ∴  Sum = Original Sum + 40
                                                  = (10 × 23) + 40 
                                                  = 270

                               ∴  Average = Sum /  Total no.
                                                  = 270 / 10
                                                  = 27

                ∴  The new average is 27.





8.  ഒരു സ്കൂട്ടർ 9,200 രൂപയ്ക്കു വിറ്റപ്പോൾ 15 % ലാഭം കിട്ടി. എങ്കിൽ വാങ്ങിയ വില എത്ര?

                           Given, Selling Price, SP = 9200, Profit %, P = 15%
                              
  Let CP be the Cost Price, then
                                                       Profit = SP - CP -----------------------------  I
                                                       Profit = 15% of CP = 0.15CP -------------- II
Substiuting II in I,
                                                     0.15CP =  9200 - CP
                                                     9200 -  0.15CP = CP
                                                      9200 = 1.15 CP
                                                         CP = 9200  / 1.15

9.  ഒരാൾ A യിൽ നിന്നും B യിലേക്കു 60km/hr  വേഗതയിലും തിരിച്ചു ബിയിൽ നിന്ന് A യിലേക്കു 40 km/hr  വേഗതയിലും യാത്ര ചെയ്താൽ യാത്രയുടെ ശരാശരി വേഗത എത്ര?

  •     A) 24          B) 48          C) 42            D) 84

                   Let 'x' be the distance between A and B.


Time taken to travel from A to B

                                        Speed = 60 km/hr (Given)
                                         Time = Distance / Speed 
                                                  = x / 60 hours



Time taken to travel from B to A:

                                        Speed = 40 km/hr (Given)
                                         Time = Distance / Speed 
                                                  = x / 40 hours

                           Total distance = Distance from A to B + Distance from B to A 
                                                  = x + x = 2x km
                                 Total time = Time from A to B + Time from B to A 
                                                  = (x/60) + (x/40) hours

                          Average speed = Total distance / Total time
                                                  =  2x / (x/60 + x/40)
                                                  =  2x / [(4x + 6x) / 240]
                                                  =  2x / (10x / 240)
                                                  =  (2x × 240/10x) / (10x/240 × 240/10x)
                                                  =  48 km/hr


Solution

                ∴   The average speed is 48 km/hr.




10.  2, 11, 32,_?

Explanation:


                                      1^3 + 1 = 2
                                      2^3 + 3 = 11
                                      3^3 + 5 = 32
                                      4^3 + 7 = 71

11.  ഒറ്റയാൻ ആര്?

  •     A) 36          B) 47          C) 42            D) 35 


Explanation:


                                     
               All the other numbers ie, 36, 42, and 35 are divisible by 7. 47 is not divisible by 7.

12.  ഒരു ലക്ഷത്തിൽ എത്ര 100 ഉണ്ട്?

  •     A) 1000          B) 100          C) 10            D) 10000


Explanation:


                                      One hundred is equal to 100.
                                      One thousand is equal to 1000, which is 10 times 100.
                                      One lakh is equal to 100,000.
                                     ∴ 100,000 ÷ 100 = 1000

                ∴   There are 1000 hundreds in a lakh.





13.  അപ്പുവിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പ്രായം അപ്പുവിന്റെ പ്രായത്തിന്റെ 9 മടങ്ങാണ്. 9 വർഷം കഴിയുമ്പോൾ ഇത് ൩ മടങ്ങായി മാറും. എങ്കിൽ അപ്പുവിന്റെ പ്രായം എത്ര?

Explanation:

                                      
                              Let Appu's age be x.

                            ∴ Appu's mother's age is 9x.

After 9 years, 

                           Appu's age will be x+9 and his mother's age will be 9x+9.


Given, after 9 years, his mother's age will be 3 times Appu's age.

                            ∴ 9x+9 = 3(x+9)
                               9x+9 = 3x+27
                                   6x = 18
                                     x = 3

                ∴   Appu's current age is 3 years old.

                              Raman is 9th from the front, ∴  there are 8 people ahead of him.
                              Raman is 15th from the back, ∴  there are 14 people behind him.

                            ∴ Total no. of people including Raman = 8 + 14 + 1 = 23

15.  2024-ലെ കലണ്ടർ വീണ്ടും ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ പറ്റുന്നു ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത വർഷം?

                              2024 is a leap year, ∴ it can be reused 2052, 2080, and 2120.
                              ∵ the calendar repeats every 28 years for leap years.

16.  തുക കാണുക? 3 + 6 + 9 + ... + 90

  •     A) 1395         B) 1935          C) 1359            D) 1953


Explanation:
                  
                        By using the formula for the sum of an arithmetic series: 
                                
                              Sum = n/2  ×  (first term + last term)   (∵ It's an arithmetic series with a common difference of 3) ----------- I
     ∴  for nth term,
                              nth term = first term + (n-1) × common difference
                                       90 = 3 + (n-1) × 3
                                       87 = 3(n-1)
                                       29 = n-1
                                         n = 30

     ∴  By equation I,
                                   Sum  = 30/2 × (3 + 90)
                                            = 15 × 93
                                            = 1395
                            


Solution

                ∴   The sum of the series 3 + 6 + 9 + ... + 90 is 1395.
