The 68th National Film Awards were presented today, July 22, 2022, in New Delhi. The much-coveted prizes of the entertainment industry, which were established in 1954, are administered by the Government of India's Directorate of Film Festivals.
Due to Covid-19-related delays, this year's programme honored films from 2020 in a variety of categories.
Suriya and Ajay Devgan were named best actors, whereas Aparna Balamurali was named best actress. Suriya is given the award for his outstanding performance in Soorarai Pottru. The award was given to Ajay Devgn for his portrayal of the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare in the film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
Sachi, the director of the film 'Ayyappanum Koshiyam,' received the award for best director. Biju Menon is named as the best supporting actor in the same film.
The best film was picked as Soorarai Pottru and the best Malayalam film is 'Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam.' Wank and Nanchamma got special recognition.
