First of Malayalam Literature

Malayalam is a comparatively young language in South India and its literature dates back to more than five centuries. In this post, we are going to learn the firsts in the history of Malayalam Literature.

  • Father of Modern Malayalam Literature – Thunchath Ezhuthachan.
  • First Malayalam Prose Work – Bhashakautiliyam (a commentary on Kautilya’s Arthasastra, written in the 12th century).
