West flowing rivers:
Among the remaining 41 rivers,
Muvattupuzha is the river that flows through most of the districts in Kerala. It is flowing through 4 districts.
- >200 km – 2 rivers – Periyar & Bharathapuzha
- >150 km – 4 rivers – Periyar, Bharathapuzha, Pamba & Chaliyar.
- >100 km – 6 rivers – Kadalundy, Achankoil, Kallada, Muvattupuzha, Valapattanam, Chandragiri
- <20 km – 3 rivers – Ariyur (17 Km), Ramapuram (19 Km) & Manjeshwaram (16 Km).
There are no major rivers in Kerala since the government requirement for major river classification in India requires a catchment area of more than 20,000 square kilometres.
However, there are four medium rivers in Kerala that meet the national level medium river status ie, ranging from 2000 square kilometres to 20,000 kilometres. They are Periyar, Bharathapuzha, Pamba, and Chaliyar.
The rivers with less than 2000 sq.km catchment area falls within the minor river category.

- Periyar – 244 km – Edamala, Cheruthoni, Mullayar, Muthirapuzha, Perinjankutti.
- Bharathapuzha – 209 km – Thuthapuzha, Gayathripuzha, Kalpathipuzha, Kannadipuzha, Kanjirappuzha.
- Pamba – 176 km – Azhuthayar, Kakkiyar, Kakkattar, Kallar, Perunthenaruvi, Madatharuvi, Thanungattilthodu, Kozhithodu,Varattar, Kuttemperoor.
- Chaliyar – 169 km – Cherupuzha (Mavoor), Iruvanjippuzha, Cherupuzha (Areekode), Kuthirappuzha, Kuruvanpuzha, Karimpuzha, Pandippuzha, Neerppuzha.
- Chalakkudy Puzha –145.5 km – Parambikulam River.
- Kadalundi Puzha – 130 km – Olipuzha and Veliyar.
- Muvattupuzha River – 121 km – Thodupuzhayarr, Kothaayar, Kaliyar.
- Chandragiri River – 105 km – Kudumbur River.
